Swipefy is our latest adventure in the music world, leveraging the extensive knowledge and experience we've gained from building and growing stats.fm to over 20 million users. Responding to countless requests to enter the music recommendations game, we've created Swipefy: the next big thing in music. With over 150,000 pre-orders in the first week, we reached the #1 App Store spot in almost every country. Built from day one with scalable infrastructure and advanced algorithms, Swipefy offers a truly personalized music discovery experience, far beyond just another wrapper around the Spotify API.

The Role

We’re looking for a skilled Backend Engineer to join our dynamic and passionate team. You’ll be working on Swipefy, our rapidly growing app with nearly 1 million users, as we embark on an exciting revamp of both the mobile and upcoming desktop/web experiences. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, agile environment and is ready to take ownership of their work.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain scalable backend systems for Swipefy.
• Collaborate with frontend developers, product management, and the community team to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic.
• Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability.
• Implement security and data protection measures.
• Conduct code reviews and provide feedback to ensure code quality.
• Assist with shaping the product roadmap and strategy, focusing on backend development.

Requirements

• Proficiency with:
  • Nest.js (TypeScript)
  • Postgres (scaling & managing, or the ability to dig into this)
  • Elasticsearch (scaling & managing, or the ability to dig into this)
• Ability to think out features from data models to API routes
• Good understanding of cloud architecture
• Knowledge of functional programming and object-oriented programming paradigms
• Experience with both consuming and designing RESTful APIs
• Ability to write efficient, secure, well-documented, and clean backend code
• Eagerness and curiosity to deal with and propose changes to code and architecture written by others
